Most children enjoy the activity of coloring. Children can learn many things from the simple task of coloring. Children often learn best when a lesson is being taught during play. The addition of a coloring project can give children many different tools for later in life. Here are some of the skills children learn from coloring.

Developing Fine Motor Skills

When a child is coloring it is often not thought of as a lesson that builds any skills. However, coloring is a great activity to help children develop their fine motor skills. Proper development of their fine motor skills will help children later when learning things like writing, dressing and being able to feed themselves. Oftentimes coloring is the first experience in learning how to grasp a writing instrument. A child learning how to color within the lines of a coloring sheet teaches hand-eye coordination and focus that will help benefit them as they are developing their writing skills. When children are able to color within the lines it is often an important milestone.

Reinforcement of Educational Lessons

Experts believe that children learn best through playing. A simple coloring sheet can reinforce the lessons being taught in the classroom. In early childhood education teachers often give coloring sheets that focus on the alphabet, shapes and numbers. Children subconsciously connect the lesson with the coloring sheet activity. Children also are able to learn color recognition and how to use the color wheel.

Self Expression

Some children often have a hard time being able to express their feelings. Many child therapists use coloring to learn more about how a child is feeling over a certain event. Children that are coloring disturbing pictures may have some issues that need to be dealt with. Coloring can give them this outlet. Giving children a way to express their thoughts and feeling freely is very important. Coloring can also be a great way of a child to unwind or sooth themselves after a hectic day. Free drawing can also help develop a child’s imagination.

Teaching Concentration

Introducing a color project to a child can help them learn how to concentrate on completing a task. A child will have a sense of accomplishment when they complete a project. Additionally, when a child focuses on the task and is able to color within the lines they feel a sense of pride. Completion of the coloring project also teaches children the value of hard work and dedication. When a child’s concentration improves they will be able to better focus on other more complex tasks such as mathematics.

Decision Making Skills

Giving children a coloring activity helps them develop their decision making skills. When completing a coloring sheet the children can decide what colors to use as well as the direction of the picture. A child can also make the decision on whether or not to complete a project to the best of their ability. Children that are able to make the decision to complete the task often have a better time academically.

Color not only affects our moods, it can also promote learning and creativity. If I ever doubted that children are attracted to color, I soon learned otherwise at a recent craft show in Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania. The children were drawn to the colorful hand painted rockers and tables and chairs that were on display. Many of them wanted to sit and play on the colorful chairs that were just their size. It has always been my belief that color is important when selecting items for children and the children themselves reinforced this idea.

Different colors promote different moods and mental creativity. Warm colors like red, orange and yellow all stimulate brain activity. Yellow is uplifting, like sunshine, and orange, which has a lot of yellow in it, promotes feelings of joy and vitality. Cool colors like green, blue and violet encourage relaxation, and surprisingly, pink is the color of tranquility. Green is also very soothing. It promotes harmony.

So what can a parent do to provide the mental stimulation that helps a young child learn and think creatively? Creative thinking leads to creative problem solving. Providing a colorful environment for your child can inspire creativity and learning. Colors are seductive. They stimulate the mind, help us relax and tempt us to think creatively. Choosing the colors for your child’s environment should not be gender based. Boys sometimes need the tranquility of pink and girls love the many soft shades of blue. Colorful bedrooms, colorful toys and colorful furniture can all be used to increase intelligence.

When selecting the colors for your young ones, think about what color attracts them the most. What color does your child select when coloring a picture? How do they behave when they’re in a warm sunny room, lazing on the soft green grass, or sitting quietly and reading in a blue bedroom? The better you know your child, the easier it will be to select the best colors for him. There are no right or wrong colors-just colors that work best for your child. So whether you are painting your child’s room, picking out his bedding or buying him a special chair to sit and think, don’t be afraid to select something very colorful. Choose colors that will stimulate his mind and comfort his body and soul.

Best How to stop your cat from spraying

Cat Spray Stop – How to stop your cat from spraying – Official Review

Cats are near and dear to my heart because they are such a delight to have as pets, but they do come with some challenges. One of the most annoying problems that can almost destroy the relationship between cat and owner is urine marking. How do you stop cat spraying? Keep reading to find out why this behavior occurs and what you can do about it.

I am sure you are seeking a remedy for your pets spraying problem, but to solve this issue, you need to know why your cat is spraying in the first place.

First identify whether your kitty is deliberately avoiding its litter box or is displaying a marking behavior. There is a distinct difference. Although unpleasant and annoying, Marking or spraying, is very normal, an instinctual feline behavior.

The two main reasons for spraying are either a sign of sexual maturity or a sign of anxiety.

If a male cat has reached his sexual maturity, usually around 5 months, he will begin spraying. Likewise, when female cats are in heat, they will spray as well, communicating to male cats her readiness to procreate. The solution, if this is the case, is simple, get your cat neutered or spayed. This will stop or reduce this behavior significantly.

If your kitty has been fixed and is still spraying, then your pet is communicating his or her anxiety or frustration. Cats are habitual and territorial by nature, so if anything in a cats environment appears threatening, spraying can result.

What might these be? Below are the most common reasons for spraying:

Sharing a home with other pets

Perceiving any outside animals as a threat

Significant changes in your household

What can you do? You know your cat better than anyone else; watch your pet closely to see what might be triggering this behavior.

Always make sure your cat is in good health. Once you have established this, you can take some steps to stop the spraying.

The first critical step is removing the smell of urine thoroughly where the marking took place. Any lingering odor allows your cat to continue marking the same location or object again and again.

If you are in a multi-pet home, allow your cat some of his or her own space – perhaps a confined space with his or her food, toys and bed. This will give your cat a sense of his or her own territory. The second step is to give your cat some undivided attention, letting your kitty know he or she is loved.

To reduce anxiety in your cat, make sure your cat feels secure. One way to do this is to establish a routine in your home, even if something in your environment has changed. Keep your cats routine intact and give your kitty some additional TLC. This will reassure your cat that everything is OK and he or she will soon adjust to any situation smoothly.

Do not give up on your cat. Instead, work with your cat and create a happy and loving environment where you and your pet can enjoy an everlasting harmonious relationship.

Find out exactly what steps you need to take to stop cats spraying behavior. You want to make sure that you not only eliminate this behavior, but prevent future spraying from occurring.
